I'm kind of undecided on this important issue. I feel that for most under $10 bottles of wine, that fake corks are okay, although if a red has a lot of tannins in it, I feel that a real cork should be used. We were unpacking the car from a trip last night and I left a case with 6 bottles of wine (3 red, 3 white) in the garage last night and today. It was 105 degrees today. I just pulled them into the house.
You have more creative control over it at home... If you have a place locally that doesn't fsck up a good piece of beef, consider yourself lucky!
