09/09/24 10:54 AM. 19 posts. We have recently used an app called Voice Map for audio walks in Frankfurt, Krakow and Ljubljana. They do cost money ( usually between $8-10) but is a nice option when there is none available thru Rick. They are not as extensive as his but have been good.
San Antonio, TX. 05/11/16 07:51 PM. 334 posts. Diocletian's Palace should be a walking tour. The palace is very concentrated, so you won't have a bike or segway option. I didn't take a guided tour while I was there, but there are options for private guides in Rick's Croatia book. If you'd prefer a tour group (~20 people), there are tours going ...

You need to pay only for visiting specific buildings and places, like the city museum, the basement of the palace, the Cathedral, and the bell tower. Otherwise, you are free to walk around.
We have a 6:45 AM flight out of Split to AMS, then to ATL. I figure we should be at the airport at least 2 hours prior to the flight, so I am thinking we should be picked up by 4:15 AM.

While in Split, we hired Maja Benzon for a 2-hour private guided tour of Old Town and Diocletian's Palace. She is recommended by Rick. Maja is from Split and is very knowledgeable, warm, and friendly. She is worth every penny. Definitely book Maja in advance if you choose to do this.
1700 posts. We hired Maja Benzon who is recommended by Rick. In fact, she is in one of his shows on Croatia. I highly recommend her for a private guided tour of Old Town and Diocletian's Palace. The walking tour is 2 hours long, and in 2019 she charged 500 kunas for 2 people. Well worth it!
We love Split! I think it's a beautiful city architecturally and has a wonderful location on the Adriatic. I love the way the city developed in/around/through Diocletian's Palace. So interesting! We hired Maja Benzon, recommended by Rick, for a 2-hour private guided tour of Diocletian's Palace and Old Town. Loved the Ethnographic Museum.
best day tour in Split & Restaurants from cruise ship. Ill be in Split in late May 2024. I believe the port is basically walkable, but i think we might need tickets ahead of time for Diocletian's Palace, Cathedral of St. Domoninius, get into the crypts etc. Also any restaurant recommendations would be great too.
