In 1947 these ladies appealed to the Commissioners' Court of Fort Bend County to establish a library which was granted and constructed by 1948. The original building held 1,000 books but was quickly deemed to be insufficient for growth and a new library underwent construction in November 1948.

Missouri City is served by the Missouri City Branch of the Fort Bend County Libraries system. The library, across the street from the City Hall complex and the Missouri City Civic Center, opened in June 1992. The 18,642 square feet (1,731.9 m 2) branch, designed by Hall/Merriman Architects, was the first of four branches built with 1989 bond funds.
Fort Bend County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. The county was founded in 1837 and organized the next year. [1] It is named for a blockhouse at a bend of the Brazos River. The community developed around the fort in early days. The county seat is Richmond. The largest city located entirely within the county borders is Sugar Land.
In December 1989 the Commissioners Court of Fort Bend County, in accordance with Texas Local Government code §323.021(a), ordered the construction of a law library. [22] The main library expansion and the 1991 installation of an automation system used funds from the 1989 bond election, and expansion occurred on 1995 and 2002.
The Bailey Cove branch was combined with the Eleanor Murphy Branch to create a new South Huntsville Public Library in 2021. [5] The Bessie K. Russell and Shower Branch Libraries were combined to form the North Huntsville Public Library in 2021. The New Hope Public Library relocated in 2022 to a new building on Main Drive in New Hope.
The school plan was the same general design used for two other KISD schools, Morton Ranch High School and Cinco Ranch High School, and was designed by PBK Architects. The school's first year in operation was the 2005–2006 school year and had its first graduating class of 408 students in the 2007–2008 school year. [3]
