Germany had a tremendous military, but it was not well lead by either Hitler or Kaiser Wilhelm. Germany made spectacular conquests in WWII. However, Hitler made huge mistakes getting involved in war with the Soviet Union and United States. He also got involved in military decisions in a very negative way and quarelled with many of his commanders.
I can't say I agree with the top 5. Napoleon Bonaparte should be, IMHO, in the top 3. Interesting choice of Ghengis Khan at number 1.
