We don't use "*" (that's just star) or "x" [ex] in Europe. The correct symbol is "×", so the question wasn't answered at all. Apparently the original poster thought that this did resolve the issue as they marked it "Solved". And, the original poster also didn't say that they were in Europe. The asterisk will work in Excel.

The multiplication sign is either a lowercase x or an asterisk. So: 5x4 = 20 or 5*4 = 20 are both representative of the same thing.
Numbers will change * to the multiplication symbol ×, not the same as a lower case x. Click on the green tick or press return to confirm the formula. With D2 selected, hover the cursor over its bottom edge to see the yellow dot (the Fill Down handle). Drag the yellow dot down as far as you need to fill the formula into those cells.
