Advancing Physics is an A-level physics course examined by OCR which was developed in association with the Institute of Physics (IOP) with assessment through written examinations and teacher-assessed coursework. It may also be referred to Physics 'B' to distinguish it from OCR's other A-Level Physics course.
A student typically studies four subjects at Cambridge International AS-Level and finishes three of those subjects at Cambridge International A-Level. Each subject a student completes receives a separate grade. The different grades are allocated according to "difficulty" in exams by applying a so-called "grade threshold" scheme.
In the compulsory state education system up to the age of 14, assessment is usually carried out at periodic intervals against National Curriculum levels.
