Ongata Rongai (also known as Ronga in local slang) is a town located in Kajiado North, Kajiado County, Kenya. The town is situated 17 km (10.6 mi) south of the Nairobi CBD, East of the Ngong hills , and within the greater Nairobi Metropolitan Region. [ 1 ]
The river rises from a natural spring to the North West of the Ngong Hills at a settlement called Kerarapon. The river is somewhat fortunate, in that it does not run through a built up area, until it reaches the sprawling conurbation in North Kajiado called Ongata Rongai (meaning Narrow Plain in KiMaa language).
Kajiado County has a total population of 1,117,840 people, of which 557,098 are males, 560,704 are females, and 38 intersex people. There are 316,179 households with an average size of 3.5 people per household and a population density of 51 people per square kilometre.
The main campus is situated in the middle of the Masaai savannah, using the Ole Kasasi road, on 124 acres (50 ha), near the town of Ongata Rongai, adjacent to Nairobi National Park, approximately 22 kilometres (14 mi), by road, south of the city center of Nairobi, Kenya's capital and largest city.
