Rodney Leon Brasfield (August 22, 1910 [1] – September 12, 1958) [2] was an American comedian who was prominently featured on the Grand Ole Opry from 1947 until his death in 1958. In 1987, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

From 1955 to 1957, Al Gannaway owned and produced both The Country Show and Stars of the Grand Ole Opry, both filmed programs syndicated by Flamingo Films. In January 1998, Jones suffered two strokes after his second show performance at the Grand Ole Opry. He died at 7 p.m. Central Time on February 19, 1998, at the McKendree Village Home Health Center in Hermitage, Tennessee at age 84. He was buried in the Luton Memorial Methodist Church cemetery in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. [12]
