The main campus was opened on April 12, 1868. Colegio de Sta. Isabel achieved its university status in August 2001, [5] [6] and was renamed Universidad de Sta. Isabel. It is still sometimes colloquially referred to as 'Colegio' across Metro Naga, usually from alumni pre-retitling and generally from older inhabitants.

As of 2020, Ateneo de Naga is the only autonomous and institutionally accredited university in the Bicol region. In 1991 the then-Department of Education, Culture and Sports placed the AdNU in its list of 18 excellent universities and colleges. The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture, or simply referred to by its acronym CBSUA, is a state university in the province of Camarines Sur, Philippines, and is the regional center for higher learning in agriculture in the Bicol Region. [1] Founded in 1918, the university is now SUC level IV and ISO 9001:2015 accredited. [2]
