Always balloon wheels. Red Wagon owner. It sucks. Doesn’t hold nearly as much as you think. Also, because the front wheels aren’t at the corners, it’s relatively unstable. We ziplock blocks with the wheels in the middle so they slide across the sand then when you get to the pavement it rolls on the wheels.

Looking for a beach wagon that works well at the beach. Advice. I recently ordered the Portal Collapsible Double Decker Wagon, but it didn't perform well at the beach. Although I don't think I overfilled it, I had a COOL CABANA Large Canopy, two beach chairs, one diaper bag, one small cooler, and a bag of fast food loaded in the wagon.
have the wagon and agree 100% with others. the problem is you put any heavy items in that wagon, the wheels sink into the sand. As you are towing the wagon, the wheels just dig in and don’t even move. it is like plowing through sand with the wheels.
Better than everything I've used with wheels EXCEPT the beach cart with the huge balloon tires, but this wagon as a whole is more functional across the board. I wound up buying an almost new "Classic" Cartwheels Wagon for $350. It's working out well so far. The wheels roll over sand.

From all the research it seems like balloon wheels is the way to go as mentioned by the advertiser below assuming you don’t want to pay 2500 for a wagon. I can’t say about usage yet but it’s price is fairly comparable to others at $200.

These are the best option for pulling kids and a lot of weight through the sand. 1. Award. My twins are about to turn 2 next month and we're having another baby in early January. Which wagons would you recommend that can ...
Large rubber twist ties, bungee chords, beach clips to hold towels, thin green rope lanyards on the 1/4" adjustment pins so they don't get lost, cooler, hefty plastic bin for dry, sand free storage. Loaded at near capacity, I can drive it with two fingers as long as it's balanced properly front to back.
Best beach cart or wagon? I know this is a great problem to have but I tried getting a wagon to contain our things that can be hauled easily in the sand and it was impossible for me. It was advertised as specifically for the beach due to its wheels but it pretty much just sank into the sand and my husband had to do all the legwork while I ...
The Costco MAC beach wagon. I shall call it the scuba cart! : r/Costco. The Costco MAC beach wagon. I shall call it the scuba cart! It’s probably the best $90 spent at Costco - and besides being a big quality of life upgrade on dive days, it has its use beyond scuba. Is that padded handle aftermarket?
