The Rotunda, situated on The Lawn in Charlottesville. The University of Virginia, one of the original Public Ivies, is located in the City of Charlottesville and the County of Albemarle. Piedmont Virginia Community College maintains several locations in Charlottesville. Charlottesville is served by the Charlottesville City Public Schools.
SR 20 is a C-shaped route that connects Charlottesville with Farmville (via US 15) in Southside Virginia. The state highway also links Charlottesville to Fredericksburg (via SR 3) by way of Orange County, within which SR 20 is the main east–west highway and intersects US 15 again in the county seat of Orange.
