Weeds is an American dark comedy-drama [1] [2] [3] television series created by Jenji Kohan, which aired on Showtime from August 8, 2005, to September 16, 2012. The series tells of Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker), a widowed mother of two boys (Hunter Parrish and Alexander Gould) who begins selling marijuana to support her family.
The Botwin family unveils Judah's headstone during a small ceremony. Nancy meets single father, Peter Scottson, after Shane bites the foot of Peter's son during a karate tournament. Nancy and Peter get to know each other at a restaurant, and they share an unexpected kiss.
After Shane kills Pilar, the Botwin family flees north. Andy joins them after Audra breaks off their relationship. Unable to enter Canada without the baby's birth certificate, Nancy, Andy, Silas, Shane, and Stevie assume new identities as "The Newmans" (as Nathalie, Randy, Mike, Shawn, and Avi, respectively) and settle in Seattle, Washington.
Celia asks for Nancy's permission to move into the Ren Mar house; Nancy rebuffs her. Andy finds Judah's passbook for a bank account worth $186,000. Unfortunately, the female bank teller, Margaret, was heartbroken by Judah years ago. In exchange for granting Andy access to the account, Margaret gets Andy to take him on a date as Judah.
The season begins with the fallout of the botched drug deal. Celia finds and destroys the entire harvest; U-Turn pays the mobsters to leave Nancy and him alone; Silas is arrested and sentenced to community service; Sanjay comes out of the closet, but U-Turn forces him to have sex with a woman who becomes pregnant with his child.
The Botwin family move in with Andy and Judah's father Lenny (Albert Brooks) in Ren Mar, and Guillermo hires Nancy to smuggle in illegal drugs from Mexico. Celia is in jail due to being the official lessee of Nancy's grow house, and she bargains to spy on Nancy for the DEA in exchange for her release.
