The California State University (Cal State or CSU) is a public university system in California, and the largest public university system in the United States. [1] It consists of 23 campuses and seven off-campus centers, which together enroll 457,992 students and employ 56,256 faculty and staff members. [ 1 ]
Pioneer Stadium hosted the Cal State Hayward Pioneers football (back when the school was called California State University, Hayward). While the football team has historical success, most notably the 1969 team with a 9–1 record, [ 3 ] the team later discontinued in 1993 due to financial issues and poor attendance.
Led by 16th-year head coach Tim Tierney, Cal State Hayward compiled an overall record of 2–9 with a mark of 1–4 in conference play, placing in a three-way tie for fourth in the NCAC.
