Donated by NASA to the UPR in the late 60's, the UPR Humacao Astronomical Observatory was founded in 1985 being a major island-wide resource in astronomy. The observatory also serves the Astronomical Society of Puerto Rico , school teachers, science fair students, radio and television stations.
