The Fellowship of Evangelical Churches (FEC) is an evangelical body of Christians with an Amish Mennonite heritage that is headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana, United States. It contains 46 churches located in Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne, Indiana, is the primary cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, headed by Most Rev. Kevin C. Rhoades. The parish was established in 1836, making it the oldest in Fort Wayne. The church was erected in 1860.
The church was built in 1886–1887, and was a red brick and sandstone Gothic Revival style church. It measured approximately 195 feet long and 68 feet wide, and had a traditional cruciform plan. The main steeple in the middle, including the cross had a height of 237 feet. [2] The front facade featured three projecting towers.
The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne is the primary cathedral in the diocese and Saint Matthew's Cathedral in South Bend is the associate cathedral. Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades was appointed bishop of Fort Wayne-South Bend by Pope Benedict XVI on November 14, 2009, and was installed on January 13, 2010.
Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, was founded in 1837 and is the oldest church in the district and the second-oldest Lutheran church in Indiana. [3] The current building was erected in 1889 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. [ 4 ]
The Rt. Rev. Jackson Kemper, Bishop of the Northwest, visited Fort Wayne for the first time in 1837 in an effort to organize a church. Two years later, he set the Rev. Benjamin Hutchins, formerly of Philadelphia, to organize a church, and Christ Episcopal Church was formally established on May 26, 1839.
