Chinle Unified School District No. 24 (CUSD) is a public unified school district headquartered in Chinle, a census-designated place in Apache County, Arizona, on the Navajo Nation, United States. [1] It is managed by a five-member elected school board, each of whom is Navajo, and operates by state rules.
In 1986 the federal government gave a grant to Chinle Unified School District to build a new high school building, with the grant totaling $10,000,000. The district anticipated spending $20,000,000 on a 1,500-student facility, with funds from the Apache County government and taxes being used to fund the remainder of the facility. [6]

After the 1976 move of the Chinle Boarding School to Many Farms, the Chinle Agency of the BIA and Chinle Unified School District (USD) #24 took over the former buildings for their use. The Chinle USD was established in 1958. It is governed by a five-member school board elected from the district in the Navajo Nation. All current members are Navajo.
Cottonwood is located about 21 miles (34 km) west of Chinle and 22 miles (35 km) east of Pinon. According to the United States Census Bureau , the CDP has a total area of 0.14 square miles (0.37 km 2 ), all land.
The entire Nazlini census-designated place is within the Chinle Unified School District, [7] which operates Chinle High School. Some areas considered to be "Nazlini" that are not in the CDP [ citation needed ] are served by the Ganado Unified School District .
