The institution is located on the Falls Road in Belfast, and has approximately 60 academic staff and 1,005 students (2022/23).The institution offers courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels for teacher training, especially for a Catholic ethos, including a PGCE for Irish Medium Education.
The current facility was built on a site previously occupied by the Belfast Asylum, to the immediate south of the Royal Victoria Hospital. [2] It was officially opened by Lucy Baldwin in October 1933. [3] It joined the National Health Service in 1948. [1]
The ship served as a static headquarters and training ship for the Royal Naval Reserve, based in Alexandra Dock, Belfast, Northern Ireland, for the later stages of her career. At the time of her decommissioning in 2011 she was the second-oldest ship in Royal Navy service, after the ship-of-the-line HMS Victory .

[12] The unit numbers approximately 100 officers and ratings and is also home to University Royal Naval Unit (URNU) Belfast. [13] [14]
The college was formed in 2017 with the coming together of the Little Flower School and St Patrick's College, Belfast. Both of these schools had a long history of providing secondary education in north Belfast with St. Patrick's having been established in 1955. [2]
Stranmillis University College. The college was established in 1922 to provide state-funded teacher training by the then newly created Government of Northern Ireland to ensure that there would be a non-denominational teacher training college within Northern Ireland's boundaries after the partition of Ireland.
