The first graduation ceremony was held in April 1984 with diploma certificates presented to graduates in agricultural engineering, food technology and horticulture. [2] On 1 September 1988, Moi declared JKUAT a constituent College of Kenyatta University through a legal notice, under the Kenyatta University Act (CAP 210C). [ 2 ]
The college became a subsidiary of CCK after the privatization of TKL in 2006. In 2008, it was upgraded under Legal Notice No. 155 of 2008 to Multimedia University College of Kenya as a constituent college of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology .
Since 2012 RVTTI annually holds an International conference [7] [8] with themes surrounding Technical and Vocational Education. It also publishes two journals namely; Kenya Journal of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (KJ-TVET) and Africa Journal of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (AfriTVET).
The main campus of Kenyatta University sits on over 1,000 acres (1.6 sq mi), at Kahawa, in the Kasarani Sub-county, north of Nairobi City County, approximately 17.5 kilometres (10.9 mi), by road, northeast of the central business district of Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya, off of the Nairobi-Thika Road.
