Granite City has a rich and varied history. Prior to it's founding in 1896, it was home to various tribes of Native American Indians and was then settled by French and later English and German immigrants.

Licenses. The City of Granite City does not currently issue or require a separate City animal license. However, all animals are required to wear an up-to-date rabies tag at all times by City and County ordinance. Click on the link below for more information on obtaining a rabies license.
