Dardanelle is one of the oldest cities in the state of Arkansas. Officially incorporated in 1855, Dardanelle celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2005. However, the area had been settled for years before that, first being established as a river town in the mid-18th century.

Yell County is a county in the U.S. state of Arkansas.As of the 2020 census, the population was 20,263. [1] The county has two county seats, Dardanelle and Danville. [2] Yell County is Arkansas's 42nd county, formed on December 5, 1840, from portions of Scott and Pope counties.

Although this area has been commercially active since the 1820s (initially as a steamboat port on the Arkansas River), its present architecture reflects the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with modestly scaled one and two story masonry building predominating. Lake Dardanelle State Park is located on two sites on the lake, one in Russellville, Arkansas and one in Dardanelle, Arkansas, on the 34,300-acre Lake Dardanelle. [1] Both sites include picnic facilities, boat ramps, pavilions, playgrounds and dump stations.
