Kentucky Route 16 (KY 16) is a 36.752-mile (59.147 km) state highway in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It follows a southwest–northeast course, paralleling Interstate 71 from U.S. Highway 127 at Glencoe northeast to Walton and continuing northeast and north into Covington , where it ends at KY 17 .
The name "Madison Pike" stays with the older road that KY 17 was formerly routed along until 2002, and the split occurs at the corner where Summit View Elementary and Middle Schools are located. KY 17 picks up the name "Madison Pike" again when the old road meets up with the current route a little over 2 miles (3.2 km) north.
I-471 was first envisioned in 1961 as an east–west connector between I-71/I-75 in Covington, Kentucky, with I-71 in Cincinnati, Ohio, crossing the Ohio River at a spot close to the current location. In effect, this connection would have provided for an alternative to I-71, creating an inner loop system that would span both Ohio and Kentucky.
