Boroondara was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly [1] in the Australian state of Victoria from 1877 to 1889 and 1904 to 1945. It included the eastern Melbourne suburbs of Kew , Camberwell and Hawthorn .
The Gardens were formed on 1.4 hectares of land purchased by the Shire of Boroondara (Camberwell) in 1903 and designated as a municipal reserve. In 1904, William Guilfoyle, designer of Melbourne's Royal Botanic Gardens suggested a plan that was later adopted. The garden was planted and opened in 1907.
Our Lady of Victories Basilica is a Roman Catholic church located in the Melbourne suburb of Camberwell. Romanesque Revival in style, it was designed by architect Augustus Andrew Fritsch [1] [2] and was completed in 1918. It is one of five churches in Australia with minor basilica status.
