In July 1945 a new bond issue totaling $750,000.00 passed providing the district with enough funding for several new facilities which included a new building for black eighth and ninth graders at Booker T. Washington, a new high school on 14th Ave which would be called Texas City High School, Roosevelt Elementary and Wilson Elementary.

Texas City is an unincorporated community in Rector Township, Saline County, Illinois, United States. Texas City is located at the junction of U.S. Route 45 and County Highway 6 5 miles (8.0 km) north-northeast of Eldorado .
Due to the growth of the city of Buffalo Grove, the schools united into one in the 1960s. Along with a united district came a brand-new school. By the 1970s, the school was unable to handle the growing city and the school was torn down and the Aptakisic School replaced it. By 1981, grades K-5 began going to the new Pritchett Elementary School.
