National Institute of Technology Srinagar (NIT Srinagar or NITSRI) is a public technical university located in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and as such is directly under the control of the Ministry of Education (MoE).
In all NITs, the first year of BTech and Dual Degree courses are marked by a common course structure for all the students, though in some NITs, a single department introduction related course is also included. The common courses include the basics from most of the departments like electronics, mechanics, chemistry, electrical, and physics.
The majority of the colleges in Srinagar are affiliated to the University of Kashmir and are spread throughout the city. Students from different parts of the valley study in these colleges. At the undergraduate level, Bachelor of Arts , Bachelor of Science , and Bachelor of Commerce are the most common courses in these colleges.
It came into existence by an Act of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly in 2002. The engineering college offers B.tech degrees in Civil, Computer Science, Electrical and Renewable Energy, Electronics and Communication and Information Technology. [1] [2]
