Oztoticpac Lands Map. The Oztoticpac Lands Map of Texcoco is a pictorial Aztec codex on native paper (amatl) from Texcoco ca. 1540. [1] It is held by the manuscript division of the Library of Congress, measuring 76 cm × 84 cm (29 + 29 ⁄ 32 by 33 + 1 ⁄ 16 inches) and now on display in the Library of Congress as part of its permanent exhibition "Exploring the Early Americas". Built along the same path as the Aztec engineered aqueducts, it was constructed using Roman architecture, reflected in its 904 arches. In completion, it reached a total length of 4663 varas, roughly 4 kilometers. In conquest times, the aqueduct supplied the city with the majority of its freshwater, however, waterborne illness was a concern.

Aztec Empire's territorial organization in 1519. Originally, the Aztec empire was a loose alliance between three cities: Tenochtitlan, Texcoco, and the most junior partner, Tlacopan. As such, they were known as the 'Triple Alliance.' This political form was very common in Mesoamerica, where alliances of city-states were ever fluctuating.
These tribes subsequently left the caves and settled "near" Aztlán. The various descriptions of Aztlán apparently contradict each other. While some legends describe Aztlán as a paradise, the Codex Aubin says that the Aztecs were subject to a tyrannical elite named the Azteca Chicomoztoca. Guided by their priest, the Aztec tribe fled.

The Aztec people included different ethnic groups of central Mexico, particularly those groups who spoke the Nahuatl language and who dominated large parts of Mesoamerica from the 14th to the 16th centuries.
The site is important in the history of early contacts between the Spanish and the Aztec Empire. Between 1520 and 1521, the locals captured a caravan of Spanish, Africans, mulattos, Taínos, and mestizos traveling to Tenochtitlan, and ritually sacrificed them. They also captured European domestic animals traveling with them.
