Garrison Brothers Distillery is a distillery in Hye, Texas. The distillery produces Texas Straight Bourbon, as well as some experimental variants. In 2006, the distillery was granted the first stiller's permit for bourbon outside of Kentucky and Tennessee, which makes it the oldest legal bourbon distillery in Texas.
Texas State Bank opened its first branch in 1991. The bank operated in Shelby, Angelina, and Tyler Counties. The bank was purchased by Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria along with State National Bank for $2.6 billion USD in 2006. Scurry County comprises the Snyder, Texas, micropolitan statistical area.

Higher education came to Snyder in 1971 with the founding of Western Texas College. The Scurry County Coliseum in Snyder, operated by Western Texas College since 2008, is a large arena which hosts area events. Outside the coliseum is a locomotive engine and a small restored historic village. Also located in Snyder is the Diamond M Museum.
