Loretta Jean Thompson-Glickman (May 23, 1945 – March 18, 2001) was an American politician. She became the first African-American mayor of Pasadena, California, in 1982, [1] [2] which also made her the first Black woman to be mayor of an American city of over 100,000 residents.
The incident started at approximately 1:05 PM local time on October 23, 1989, at 1400 Jefferson Road, Pasadena, Texas. A powerful and devastating explosion and fire ripped through the HCC, killing 23 people—all working at the facility—and injuring 314 others (185 Phillips Petroleum Company employees and 129 contract employees).
Frank Mandel (1884 – April 20, 1958) was an American playwright and producer. [1] [2] [3] He co-wrote several productions.Some of his works were adapted by others. Several of his collaborations were adapted into films.
Bertha Lee Turner (1867–1938) was an American caterer, cookbook author, and community leader in Pasadena, California, in the early 1900s. [1] She is most famous for compiling The Federation Cookbook: A Collection of Tested Recipes Compiled by the Colored Women of the State of California.
