Free at Last is the fifth studio album by the English rock band Free.It was recorded between January and March 1972, and released in June that year. After breaking up in May 1971 due to differences between singer Paul Rodgers and bassist Andy Fraser, the band had reformed in January 1972.
In early 1972 the band set aside their differences and reformed in an effort to save Kossoff from his growing drug addiction, [26] and released Free at Last in June of the same year. [9] Fraser left the band in mid-1972, frustrated by Kossoff's unreliability at being able to perform at shows or even at showing up.
Free reunited the following year, releasing Free at Last in June 1972 which reached the top ten of the UK Albums Chart. [3] In early 1973 the band released Heartbreaker, which was recorded primarily by Rodgers and Kirke due to Fraser's departure and Kossoff's drug problems. [1]

Free at Last: the Movie was filmed during the 1994 "Free at Last" world tour to capture a behind-the-scenes look at DC Talk. It was filmed for a theatrical release, but was plagued with delays due to contract negotiations between the band, record label, and the producers of the film.
Paul Francis Kossoff (14 September 1950 – 19 March 1976) was an English guitarist, best known as the co-founder and guitarist of the rock band Free. In 2010, he was ranked number 51 in Rolling Stone ' s list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time".
Fraser also co-wrote two other hit singles for Free, "My Brother Jake" and "The Stealer". [7] Free initially split in 1971, and Fraser formed a trio, Toby, with guitarist Adrian Fisher, and drummer Stan Speake. [8] Material was recorded but not released, and Fraser re-joined Free in December 1971. He left for the second time in June 1972.
Their most recent album, Free at Last, was recorded in April and May 2005 with James Paul Wisner and released late that same year. A video for the song "The Sound of Names Dropping" was released that year. [9] In 2005, the band shared the stage with the famed funk musician George Clinton. [10]
