Avaraikulam is a village in the Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu, India. It is located 72 km (45 mi) from Tirunelveli and 20 km (12 mi) from Kanyakumari. Most residents are involved in agrarian activities. The Arulmigu Mutharamman Thirukovil Temple in the village is famous for its Vaigasi (A month in the Tamil calendar) Thiruvizha.
Aravan Festival [1] also known as "Koothandavar Thiruvizha" is festival celebrated in seven places in Coimbatore city such as Vellalore, Thudiyalur, Kurichi, Singanallur, Annur, Vadavalli and Kattampatti since ancient times. It is celebrated for the Aravan, a major character in Hindu epic Mahabarata. [2]

There are many temples in Nattarasankottai, including a Sivan temple. Ashtami Thiruvizha and Sivarathri are the festivals of this temple.
The village host an annual festival called Mariamman Kovil Thiruvizha, which includes various Hindu religion rituals in the temple and festivities such as musical performances and dance. Most of the current generation villagers have migrated to nearby towns and cities such as Thanjavur , Tiruchirapalli and Nagapattinam .
