Lundy (formerly Mill Creek) is a defunct community in Mono County, California, United States, located on Mill Creek in Lundy Canyon near the west end of Lundy Lake. [2] It is situated at an elevation of 7858 feet (2395 m). [1] It was named after O.J. Lundy who operated a sawmill near Lundy Lake.
Lundy was born in New York City on February 1, 1923. [6] He was honored by the Smithsonian on his 90th birthday in 2013. [8] A film on his life and work, entitled "Victor Lundy: Sculptor of Space" was premiered by the GSA on February 25, 2014. [8] [9] Lundy turned 100 in February 2023, and died on November 4, 2024, at the age of 101. [10]

Foundations for a lighthouse on Lundy were laid in 1787, but the first Lundy Lighthouse (now known as the Old Light) was not built until Trinity House obtained a 999-year lease in 1819. The 97-foot (30-metre) granite tower, on the summit of Chapel Hill, was designed by Daniel Asher Alexander , and built by Joseph Nelson at a cost of £36,000. [ 1 ]

Tormod MacLeod, sometimes referred to as Norman MacLeod, (Scottish Gaelic: Tormod MacLeòid, and Tormod mac Leòd) (fl. late 13th century) was a west Highland lord, and son of Leod, the traditional founder and eponymous ancestor of Clan MacLeod. Little is known about Tormod; like his father Leod, he does not appear in any contemporary records.
