Beerlao was an official sponsor of the 2009 Southeast Asian Games held 9–18 December 2009 in Vientiane as well as most sports events in the country. They are one of the main marketers in the country and issues one of its most popular calendars, showcasing the year's winners of the Beerlao beauty pageant.

From time immemorial, Lao people traded directly with ancient China. It was the Indianization of Laos, however, that has had the most impact.
The name lao-Lao is not the same word repeated twice, but two different words pronounced with different tones: the first, ເຫລົ້າ, means "alcohol" and is pronounced with a low-falling tone in the standard dialect, while the second, ລາວ, means Laotian ("Lao") and is pronounced with a high(-rising) tone.
Heineken Lao Brewery is a joint-venture between Heineken Asia Pacific (68%), the Government of Laos (25%) and SBK Consultant Ltd (7%). [2] It opened its first brewery on 12 March 2008, at a cost of €23 million, with an initial capacity of 300,000 hectolitres per annum. [3]
