Structurally, the geology of Uganda is strongly influenced by fold belts and shear zones, as well as the East Africa Rift related crustal downwarping in the Pleistocene that formed Lake Victoria. The Aswa Shear Zone is one example of several Neoproterozoic shear zones in Precambrian rocks, running for 300 kilometers on a northwestern trend.

The hill is located in Buyende county, Buyende District, in Uganda's Eastern Region. [2] This is about 42 kilometres (26 mi) north-east of Kamuli, the nearest town. [3] Kagulu hill. Kagulu is approximately 106 kilometres (66 mi) north of Jinja, the largest city in the Busoga sub-region. [4]
Davies was born in 1897, and studied geology at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth [1] under William Pugh after the end of the first world war. Davies subsequently went to work for the colonial geological survey in East Africa, where he eventually became director of the geological survey of Uganda.
