The University of Gothenburg (Swedish: Göteborgs universitet) is a university in Sweden's second largest city, Gothenburg.Founded in 1891, [3] the university is the third-oldest of the current Swedish universities and, with 53,624 students and 6,707 staff members, [4] it is one of the largest universities in the Nordic countries.
The School of Design and Crafts (Swedish: Högskolan för Design och Konsthantverk, abbreviated HDK) [1] at the University of Gothenburg is a design school in Gothenburg. It belongs to the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts. It was started in 1848 with the name Slöjdföreningens skola. [2]

[1] [2] It was founded in 1923 as an independent business college and is situated in the centre of the city.
Aant Elzinga (born 22 November 1937, Bolsward) is professor emeritus at the University of Gothenburg. In 1984 he set up a unit for science and technology foresight at the Science Council of Canada. From 1991 to 1997 he was president of the European Association for the Study of Science and Technology. [1]
In 1992 he did post-doctoral research at the University of Cologne. [1] He has been teaching at the University of Gothenburg since 1993, where he was promoted to Associate Professor in 1996 and to full Professor in 2000. He chaired the department of physiography from January 2000 to December 2002.
