Gyaru (ギャル) pronounced [ɡʲa̠ꜜɾɯ̟ᵝ], is a Japanese fashion subculture for young women, often associated with gaudy fashion styles and dyed hair. [1] The term gyaru is a Japanese transliteration of the English slang word gal.
Ganguro (ガングロ) is an alternative fashion trend among young Japanese women which peaked in popularity around the year 2000 and evolved from gyaru..
