The LLV (also called Vortec 2900) is a 2.9 L; 178.3 cu in (2,921 cc) straight-4 DOHC engine produced between 2007 and 2012, with a 95.5 mm × 102 mm (3.76 in × 4.02 in) bore and a stroke. It replaced the LK5 and produced 185 hp (138 kW) at 5,600 rpm and 190 lb⋅ft (258 N⋅m) of torque at 2,800 rpm.
The oil pan dipstick is located on the passenger side above the oil pan rail; this design was phased in on both the 90° V6 and Small Block Chevrolet assembly lines (for engines manufactured after 1979) sharing the same casting dies. All the engines use a 1-6-5-4-3-2 firing order. [2]

An updated 4L60E, the 4L65E (RPO M32), was phased in the 2001 model year when coupled behind the 6.0 Vortec. Five-pinion front and rear planetaries, along with an additional 3/4 clutch allowing 7 clutches in the input housing and induction hardened input shaft assembly, were improved to withstand up to 380 ft⋅lb (520 N⋅m) of torque.
The firing order of older big-block engines is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 [63] while Vortec 8100's firing order is 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3. Other upgrades of Vortec 8100 include a new 18-bolt head bolt pattern, longer connecting rods, different symmetrical intake ports, different oil pan rails, and the use of metric threads throughout the engine.
The 4L30-E was an automatic transmission developed and produced by General Motors. It was developed for light-duty use in longitudinal engine rear-wheel drive vehicles, replacing the similar TH180/3L30 .
