The Jackson, Mississippi-based traditional black gospel group, The Williams Brothers started in 1960 by Leon "Pop" Williams (November 24, 1908/1909 – September 6, 1989), [1] [2] who was the father of the Williams Brothers and an early member of the group, died in a car accident.
The group, composed of Sean Connors, Robert Dillon, Peter Martin, and David Skidmore, specializes in new music/contemporary classical music and is known for its touring and recording activities. Donald J. Williams was born in Wall Lake, Iowa, on October 9, 1922. After The Williams Brothers broke up, Don Williams moved back to Los Angeles. In LA, he worked on TV shows, where he sang on the Eddie Fisher and Nat King Cole television shows. He put together his own act the "Don Williams Singers" and sang for a number of TV commercials.
