Dr. Ruffner was the first superintendent of schools in Henry County, and the first high school was named in his honor as "The Ruffner Institute", until 1904, when the school was re-named "Martinsville High School". Hooker Field is a stadium in Martinsville, Virginia. It is primarily used for baseball and is the home of the Martinsville Mustangs of the Coastal Plain League [3] and the Patrick & Henry Community College Patriots. [4] The ballpark has a capacity of 3,200 people.
