Middlesex County is a county in the south central part of the U.S. state of Connecticut.As of the 2020 census, the population was 164,245. [1] The county was created in May 1785 from portions of Hartford County and New London County.
The main station of the Essex Steam Train is located in Centerbrook. The steam train has tracks from Amtrak's Shore Line (part of the Northeast Corridor) in Old Saybrook to Haddam. The steam train and riverboat ride goes from Essex to Chester on the train, but the Dinner Train goes from Essex to just north of Route 82 in Haddam.

The Falls River is a 7.7-mile-long (12.4 km) [1] river located in Essex, Connecticut. It begins in the Pond Meadow area of Ivoryton and runs for about 5 miles (8.0 km) through Essex. Its beginnings are visible from Comstock Field at the end of Park Road in Ivoryton.
