On March 3, 1881, by 21 Stat. 507, Louisiana was for a third time divided into Eastern and the Western Districts, with one judgeship authorized for each. [3] The Middle District was formed from portions of those two Districts on December 18, 1971, by 85 Stat. 741, [ 3 ] making it one of the youngest districts in the United States.

The bank was founded in Hammond, Louisiana in 1934 as Guaranty Bank & Trust Company. [2] In 1971, the bank was renamed First Guaranty Bank. [2] In 1999, the bank acquired 13 branches from Bank One. [3] In 2007, the company acquired Homestead Bancorp, Inc. for $13 million in cash. [4] [5] It also acquired Douglass National Bank of Kansas City. [6]
The Bank of Louisiana building is located at 334 Royal Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. [1] It was designed by architects Bickle, Hamlet & Fox and completed in 1826. After a fire, the bank was repaired in 1863 under architect James Gallier. [2]
