Alfred Lothar Wegener (/ ˈ v eɪ ɡ ən ər /; [1] German: [ˈʔalfʁeːt ˈveːɡənɐ]; [2] [3] 1 November 1880 – November 1930) was a German climatologist, geologist, geophysicist, meteorologist, and polar researcher.
