A revolutionary wave caused by the Russian Revolution lasted until 1923, but despite initial hopes for success in the German Revolution of 1918–19, the short-lived Hungarian Soviet Republic, and others like it, only the Mongolian Revolution of 1921 saw a Marxist movement at the time succeed in keeping power in its hands.

Her three major criticisms of the policies implemented by the Bolshevik Party were its korenizatsiya policy of self-determination for ethnic minorities, its distribution of land to individual peasant farmers instead of immediate collectivization, and its anti-democratic dissolution of the Russian Constituent Assembly. Evgeniia Florianovna Zavadskaia (Russian: Евгения Флориановна Завадская; 1852–1883) was a Russian Narodnik revolutionary.Having become involved in radical student groups while studying at the University of Zurich, upon her return to Russia, she worked as a schoolteacher and carried out agitational propaganda among the peasantry.
