Pakistan Medical and Dental Council is a statutory regulatory authority that maintains the official register of medical practitioners in Pakistan. Its chief function is to establish uniform minimum standards of basic and higher qualifications in medicine and dentistry throughout Pakistan.
It regulates and coordinates the activities of medical education, training and research institutions throughout Punjab. It also conducts Medical and Dental College Admission Test (also known as MDCAT) every year for admission in MBBS and BDS degree programs in public and private medical and dental colleges of Punjab.
It was established in 2015 and run by the Pakistan Army Medical Corps. Previously, Army Medical College (which is a military-run medical institute) [3] [4] was affiliated with National University of Sciences and Technology, Pakistan (NUST) but now it is a constituent college of the university.
