Electronic throttle control, throttle position sensor fault or cruise control failure (see drive by wire) [11] Stuck throttle (unrelated to pedal position) [12] [13] Shorting of tin whiskers [14] [15] Diesel engine runaway: Diesel engine power is governed by the amount of fuel supplied. Excessive pressure in the crankcase can force mist of ...
The sensors monitored as inputs for the brake system include the wheel speed sensors, traction battery state of charge, yaw sensor, brake pedal stroke sensor, steering wheel angle, hydraulic actuator pressure, hydraulic pressures of each wheel caliper circuit, and accelerator position. Other information and inputs are also monitored.
The accelerator pedal becomes harder to depress or slower to return to the closed position. The accelerator pedal may become stuck in a partially depressed position. Should the pedal become stuck while driving, drivers should switch to neutral and stop. A repair fix would be applied by the manufacturer to prevent the sticky pedal condition.
A typical ETC system consists of three major components: (i) an accelerator pedal module (ideally with two or more independent sensors), (ii) a throttle valve that can be opened and closed by an electric motor (sometimes referred to as an electric or electronic throttle body (ETB)), and (iii) a powertrain or engine control module (PCM or ECM). [4]
This prevents the pressure from rising further should the driver push the brake pedal harder. In position three, the valve releases some of the pressure from the brake. Partially disassembled four-channel hydraulic control unit containing motor, pump and valves. The majority of problems with the valve system occur due to clogged valves.
When the brake pedal is pressed down and pin 15 on the ECU is supplied with battery voltage. Certain fault codes is set (Faulty throttle position sensor (TPS), pressure sensor, pre ignition/pinging signal or charging pressure regulation) or low battery voltage.
2003: Honda introduced autonomous braking (Collision Mitigation Brake System CMBS, originally CMS) front collision avoidance system on the Inspire [29] and later in Acura, using a radar-based system to monitor the situation ahead and provide brake assistance if the driver reacts with insufficient force on the brake pedal after a warning in the ...
The sensor has an input port to measure the hydraulic braking pressure and an electrical connector output for a wire connection for feeding the warning light. Some brake failures do not trip the sensor into a fault mode. A brake fluid pressure sensor is used in anti-lock braking system (ABS). ABS fault lights come on with unexpected wheel lock ...
