Since 2008–09, Benfica have been consistently Portugal's best-attended team, with an average gate of 41,740 during 14 seasons (2020–21 is excluded, as there were no spectators). In 13 of those seasons, Benfica had the league's best average attendance, with 2022–23 being their best record (57,108), [ 25 ] which was the 14th highest in Europe.
Like its predecessor, the Estádio da Luz is officially named Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica. A UEFA category four stadium , [ 111 ] [ 112 ] it hosted several matches of UEFA Euro 2004 , including the final , and was the venue for the UEFA Champions League finals in 2014 and 2020 .
