Petoskey State Park is a public recreation area covering 303 acres (123 ha) on Lake Michigan in Bear Creek Township, Emmet County, Michigan. The state park is located three miles (4.8 km) northeast of the city of Petoskey on Little Traverse Bay. It is surrounded by heavily vegetated sand dunes that are excellent examples of parabolic dunes. [2]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 21.60 square miles (55.9 km 2), of which 19.13 square miles (49.5 km 2) is land and 2.47 square miles (6.4 km 2) (11.44%) is water. Resort Township has shorelines on both Little Traverse Bay (Lake Michigan) and Walloon Lake.
Leelanau State Park is a public recreation area covering 1,550 acres (630 ha) on the Leelanau Peninsula in Leelanau County, Michigan. The state park encompasses the tip of the peninsula and is the home of the Grand Traverse Lighthouse .
Crooked Lake Campground is also a rustic campsite with 12 camping areas. Additionally, one yurt and one cabin are available to rent at the park. Silver Lake is a center of park activities with swimming beach on the lake as well as access to a number of trails including the 17-mile (27 km) Potawatomi mountain bike trail.
