The Historic Anderson House Hotel is a hotel and event venue in Wabasha, Minnesota, United States. The hotel opened in 1856 and was Minnesota's oldest continuously operating bed and breakfast inn west of the Mississippi River. Most of the furniture dates back to 1856 as well. The motel was built at a time of rapid expansion in the area of south metropolitan Minneapolis. It was designed by Rodney Wallace and was the first hotel in Bloomington to hold a liquor license. [1] [2] [3] Interstate 494 had just been constructed, and the area was growing.
The hotel had a reputation as the leading hotel in Anoka and one of the best hotels in Minnesota. [2] The Jackson Hotel building was built in five sections at different times. The two-story center section, built in 1884, bears the name of its builder, C.G. Jackson. In 1885 a two-story brick addition was built to the rear of the center section.
