A Walk to Remember: Music from the Motion Picture is the soundtrack to the 2002 film A Walk to Remember, released by Epic Records and Sony Music Soundtrax on January 15, 2002. [1] The album features six songs performed by the film's star Mandy Moore , along with others by Switchfoot , Rachael Lampa and many more.
Singer-songwriter Dan Bern and Mike Viola (of the Candy Butchers) wrote most of the film's songs, including "There's a Change A' Happenin'", "The Mulatto Song" and "Hole in My Pants". Marshall Crenshaw wrote the title tune and Van Dyke Parks penned one of the 1960-styled psychedelic jams, "Black Sheep".
Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon were also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor and Best Actress, which Witherspoon won. Walk the Line is an enhanced CD which also contains two deleted scenes from the film: Phoenix performing "Rock 'n' Roll Ruby" and Phoenix and Witherspoon together near the scene of "Jackson".
