George VI in 1938. George VI received numerous decorations and honorary appointments, both during and before his time as monarch of the United Kingdom and the dominions. The insignia, an enamel portrait of the king surrounded by diamonds, is worn on a bow of rose pink ribbon. [1] It was provided in two different sizes: the larger version was bestowed on the King's wife and mother, and the second to the other recipients. The first examples were presented two days before the 1937 Coronation, at a family luncheon. [2]
