Buick "New Century" (China) The Buick Century was produced in China as the New Century from 1998 to 2000. The engine was the 3.0 liter LW9 V6 engine which was also used in the first-generation Buick GL8. A four-cylinder model was also available paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Century was replaced by the Buick Regal due to poor sales. [31]
The rear features full width taillights. The base model features slightly different styling from the Avenir and Flagship. The GL8 Century is the first production model to wear Buick's new corporate emblem. On the interior of the Flagship, there are only four seats, like in other ultra-luxury minivans in the segment.
From the early twentieth century, a Latin letter-based naming scheme was used to designate platforms, [1] which were aimed at vehicles under different brands that served similar niches of the market. For example, the B platform was the base for fullsize , rear-wheel drive (RWD) sedans and wagons from 1926 to 1996.
All models also included standard bench seats and cloth interior. Available on all models were a 3.0 L Buick V6 engine, or a 4.3 L Oldsmobile Diesel V6 engine. Brougham trim added a plush interior with vinyl accents, leatherette interior door pulls, additional chrome trim, and a reading lamp.

One reason for their success was the development of interchangeable wooden body parts that did not require hand-fitting, as was the case in the construction of carriages. This required the design of new precision woodworking tools. The Fisher Body and Buick chassis were built in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, in the 1920s. [citation needed]
