The institution was founded as the Indian Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad as a foundation for the 20 Indian Institutes of Information Technology under the same model, which was renamed to International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad in 2001, when it attained a status of a deemed university. The IITH campus is on a land area of 576 acres (234 ha). Despite being called IIT Hyderabad, its campus is about 60 km from the main city. The academic session of IIIT Kota started from its temporary campus at Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur from year 2013. [3] [4]IIIT Kota will be welcoming its first batch of 2023 to the newly built campus in Ranpur Kota, Phase I construction is about to be accomplished while Phase 2 Construction is still going on.
IIIT Raichur began functioning on 26 July 2019 from a temporary campus at Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad(IIT Hyderabad), with Prof. Budaraju Srinivasa Murty as the mentor director and IIT Hyderabad as the mentor institute. Since December 2022, Prof. Harish Kumar Sardana has been serving as the founding director of the institute. [1]
IIIT Pune was declared as an Institute of National Importance (INI) in August 2017. [3] IIITP is located in Pune, Maharashtra, and it started its academic sessions from July 2016. It offers two courses in Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.), Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE).
Internationally, IIIT-Allahabad was ranked 551–600 in Asia in the QS World University Rankings of 2023. [17] In India, IIIT-Allahabad was ranked 87th among engineering colleges by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2024. [21] It was also ranked 10 by India Today [19] and 19 by Outlook India in 2022. [20]
